Advocacy Messages

“Learn the Signs”  a campaign to raise awareness of the signs of autism has encouraged parents of young children to speak with their pediatricians regarding concerns for their children. Raising awareness of autism and the signs of autism has allowed children who need intervention to receive the services they need, earlier rather than later.

“You Could Learn A Lot From a Dummy”  who does not remember this? Again, aimed at raising awareness regarding safety of not just children, but their families as well. This is one that brings back clear memories of commercials with crashing cars and how I used to constantly remind my parents to buckle up for safety!!

“Take Time To Be A Dad Today”  I have seen several billboards with this ad lately. It speaks to me every time I see it. I believe the importance of the involvement of fathers in their children’s lives can be invaluable. Being a “dad” is different than being a “father”. Being a “dad” means taking the time to be involved and nurturing your children. Sometimes fathers are so involved in the business of providing for their children, which is also so important, that they forget to take some time every day to just enjoy their children and what it means to be a dad. I think this ad is a great reminder of how important Dads are to their children and what an impact they can have.

I also remember “You Could Learn A Lot From a Dummy” adds. I did the same thing, I too would remind my mom and aunt to buckle when in the car. This commercial really left a big mark on me.
